Video Streaming Syndication Company Spondo Appoints Media Veteran, Peter Brack, to its Board of Directors

Australian video streaming and syndication company Spondo appoints former Time Warner and Turner Broadcasting Senior Executive Peter Brack to its Board of Directors. Mr. Brack, also known for his publicly listed companies Redgate Media and One Media Group, establishes a beachhead for Spondo in Asia.

Peter Brack’s distinguished media career began when he led the expansion of Turner Broadcasting’s content channel offerings into Asia, including the launch of the CNN and Cartoon Network. Mr. Brack then held senior executive roles at Time Inc. International, where he was responsible for the revenue and overall profitability of TIME & FORTUNE’s Asia editions, overseeing the Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo, and Sydney offices.

Most recently, Mr. Brack was co-founder and CEO of two companies, both of which went public on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. He is an active member of the internet and digital media communities in New York, Los Angeles and China.

“When Spondo was first introduced to me it resonated because it’s front and center in the area where content meets technology, specifically where the monetization of content takes place using technology,” said Mr. Brack. “I’m placing a bet on Spondo. I like the team, I like what they’re doing, I love Australia and I’ll be digging in and helping as much as I can.”

Spondo had been seeking a Board member with strong, international media, M&A and strategic expertise to complement its existing leadership. Mr. Brack fits the bill perfectly.

“Peter Brack joining our board further enhances the collective intelligence of this company,” said Spondo CEO and Executive Director Chris Adams. “His ability to think about and help us execute on the future of digital content distribution cannot be underestimated in its importance, especially as Spondo aims to be a true global company. You cannot be truly global unless you are in Asia.”

Mr. Brack, who is an American based in Hong Kong, will assist the company, not only at a strategic level – helping to analyze and penetrate global markets – but also provide an all important beachhead for the company as Spondo expands into Asia. This appointment follows the company winning a spot in the prestigious Red Herring Top 100 Asia and Red Herring Global 100 Awards in 2013.

About Spondo: Spondo is a video streaming media company with a suite of complementary products in social streaming (VOD), live streaming, video advertising, lead generation, revenue distribution and corporate training. MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA–(Marketwired – Sep 10, 2013) – Spondo, a world-leading proprietary content syndication and revenue distribution software platform, today announced it is a winner of Red Herring’s Top 100 Asia award, a prestigious title honoring the year’s most promising private technology ventures from the Asian business region. Spondo was the only company from Australia to receive the award.

Red Herring’s Top 100 Asia list has become a mark of distinction for identifying promising new companies and entrepreneurs. Red Herring editors were among the first to recognize that companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube, and eBay would change the way we live and work.

“We are honored to join the accomplished roster of those who have been honored by Red Herring,” said Chris Adams, Spondo CEO. “The fact that we were the only Australian company to be named to this list says a lot about the unique quality of work we are currently doing at Spondo. We look forward to continuing the kind of innovation that helped us receive such a pre-eminent technology accolade.”

Red Herring’s editorial staff evaluated the companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, management quality, strategy, and market penetration. Online Streaming and Syndication Company Spondo Raises $1 Million

MELBOURNE, AUSTRALIA – 22 April 2013 – Before heading to the U.S. for the first leg of a two-month fundraising sojourn, Spondo Global CEO & Director Chris Adams headlined a series of fundraisers in Melbourne with Board Chairman Henry Pinskier that helped Spondo cross the AUS $1 million (US $1.03 million) funds-raised threshold, surpassing the startup’s own fundraising goals and enabling it to continue its aggressive push for growth. Spondo, a social broadcasting startup, provides a syndication platform through which retailers can sell and stream video on any website or blog.

In a flurry of activity centering around the Spondo Annual General Meeting in Melbourne, the Spondo leadership team rolled out a series of detailed presentations and company materials that, judging by the sums raised, hit their mark in conveying the innovative and paradigm-shifting business model that Spondo has created. The Wall Street Journal reported in February that the startup was seeking to raise AUS $5 million (US $5.1 million). Now, just 60 days later, the company has raised AUS $1 million, before tapping the V.C., Private Equity and private investor markets.

The funds raised will help the company to pursue its quest for global growth, including opening an office in Los Angeles later this month. The prodigious fundraising haul will also enable the company to invest in larger content offerings, to hire additional staff and to increase marketing efforts, especially in the digital realm.

Commenting on the company’s fundraising success while shuttling between meetings in Los Angeles this week, Spondo Global CEO & Director Chris Adams said, “I am ecstatic about the results of our initial fundraising push. Our success thus far is a testament to the strength of our business model, the Spondo team, the opportunities presented by an ever-changing media market and the talent and determination of our staff. Hitting the $1 million milestone is a great way to cap what has been an incredibly intense and productive few months and I want to thank everyone who has helped us get this far, staff and investors.”

Gerhard Sieber, an early Spondo investor and CEO of Berlin-headquartered media company Icestorm Entertainment added, “I am happy to have been able to be a part of Spondo’s early fundraising efforts and am glad that other investors have come to understand the opportunity presented by Spondo’s business model and market position. Spondo represents the future of commercial broadcasting, enabling anyone with a website or Facebook Page to become, in effect, his or her own network. Icestorm and I have embraced the Spondo model and know that with it, we can grow exponentially.”
